Rules
  • Follow the golden rules of RP. Keep IC and OOC separate, be respectful towards your fellow players, remember that IC actions have IC consequences, and talk to the mods if you have a problem.
  • This is a closed GPSL and membership is by invitation only, and only to friends. (In other words, strangers who find this game can't join by filling a wanted line and we ask that you don't invite people you aren't friends with or post an open invitation on your CDJ.) Only members can invite new players but they must contact the mods via email or dropbox beforehand.
  • The character limit is 4, and you can hold 2 characters at a time.
  • You can’t play characters with close relations to your other characters. This includes family members, roommates, teammates, etc.
  • Regarding activity, there are no strict requirements. Just be present, participate, and play with others in a relatively consistent way. Don’t apply for more characters than you can handle. Be courteous and drop characters if you’re not keeping up with them. There will be an interest check posted on the last week of each month just to help sweep out inactive characters.
  • The game is rated PG-13. If your characters are going to get up to anything racier than that, have it fade to black.
  • This is a next-gen game, so none of the main cast of the Harry Potter novels can be applied for. All characters should be between 18 and 30 years old. You can apply as muggleborns, or as characters who are complete OCs with no connection to canon names.
  • Run it by the mods before you enact any major plots that might have serious repercussions for other players.
  • If a character is dropped, they become a blank slate unless the next player wants to uphold whatever the previous player established.
  • Everything JKR has written outside of the main books is not strictly considered canon to this game, and we can pick and choose what parts we like and want to keep. Even some of the things that are in the books are able to be retconned (for instance, Crabbe and Lavender are alive).

FAQ
How do characters get invited to live in the building?
Sir Forsythe sent them a letter informing them that they qualify based on his very accurate numerological calculations. Something about their names and birthdates, etc, etc, etc, all very complex, you understand. He can show you the charts if you like (they’re incomprehensible). After a quick interview, your character was given a key and told to move in at their earliest convenience.
How long has my character been there?
The day your application is accepted (if after the game's start date) is the day that they moved in.
What’s so great about these apartments?
Low rent, great location, fully furnished, utilities included, and wi-fi*.

(*The wi-fi is a little finicky for people whose names end in the letter D, L, or R.)
What if my character doesn’t want to live here or thinks it’s sketchy?
Then they don’t have to accept the invite, but unfortunately can’t be part of the game. Moving out would be considered dropping your character.
Can I request that my character be put on a specific floor?
Yes! After your application has been accepted, you'll be able to choose which room your character will be staying in. You can also ask to have a random room assigned for them. Room assignments are first come, first served and can't be reserved.
Can I change rooms?
In general, no, unless there’s a really good IC reason. If that happens, we’ll talk about it.
Can my character have gone to a school besides Hogwarts?
Yes! International students are welcome.
How does the journal network work?
Upon arrival, your characters were handed these magically linked journals by Sir Forsythe so that they can communicate and bond with other residents. Text that is stricken out is illegible. Reaction icons (a comment with just an icon and no text below it) cannot be seen by anyone else, they’re just for flavor.
